Cyprus 1992

My first time on a proper holiday abroad; and my first time flying! We were out having a curry one night when Beryl brought up the idea, I immediately said yes.

I must admit, I was not looking forward to the take-off. I’m scared of heights, and as the noise and pressure began to build in the cabin I could feel myself about to start panicking. Thankfully, as the aircraft levelled out, and the noise became a steady drone, I imagined myself to be sat on a bus and started to relax.

We all chipped in to hire a jeep for the duration. Andy and Lill, who may have booked a different time to the rest of us were staying in a different hotel. The idea was, that either me or Andy (the younger) would pick them up each morning. That really didn’t happen however, by the time we rolled out of bed in a morning they had normally already arrived!

We spent some days around the hotel pool, but also used the jeep for trips around the area, particularly enjoying a drive up into the mountains where we joined the local villagers for a drink in the square.

Oh… and we also joined a bus trip to a place I can’t remember, where we were served numerous courses of great Greek food, along with as much wine as our bodies could tolerate. Needless to say, fun was had by all, but I have no idea how I ended up wearing a toilet seat!
